Broxbourne Creative Partnership.

Here is the full text of Lee Rayner's revised introduction.

Hard Times are over?!

As we have previously written in our newsletter, what Shakespeare described as the ‘slings and arrows of outrageous fortune’  managed to put a substantial ‘spanner’ into all our lives in the shape of the pandemic Coronavirus and Government restrictions put the BArts’ programme on the ’back-burner’ for a seemingly indefinite period.

The Spotlight remained closed until March 2022 but has now been open for two years. Our affiliated groups have now resumed their events.  Many of the postponed events have been re-programmed.

Meanwhile many groups held events online. BArts piloted and continued an online version of our 'Let's Do Lunch' series, called 'BArts Buffet'. Happily we have been able to return the Spotlight for many months.

Thank you for your support. We look forward to seeing you at one of our events in person.

Programme On Hold has now returned!

Lunches: Debunking History, Two Elizabeths, Mind The Gap!, National Treasures

Behind the Scenes: Talk, Tour and Tea - back last  November but unfortunately with insufficient support

My Kind of Music: Monthly Piano Concerts - now a regular feature

Theatre: all groups have restarted their productions

Special Events:

Love Hoddesdon: St. George's Day and Coronation celebrations

Four years ago our affiliated groups were making provisional new bookings for 3 or 4 months ahead and crossing their fingers that the worst would be over by then, but it was not to be. However, the local U3As continued their monthly newsletters and, where possible, encouraged their interest groups to share activities via E-mail and keep the vulnerable house-bound happily occupied.   Now all have restarted their activities.

In the meantime, there are other issues affecting BArts’ members……….

BArts’ Charity Status

After a long period of negotiation, Broxbourne Arts Forum became a registered charity, Number 1188425, eligible for some tax relief, Gift Aid on donations from individuals and an increased opportunity to seek grants and awards to replace the loss of funding by the Borough of Broxbourne.

Membership Subscriptions

Last year nearly all of our members renewed their subscriptions. This year we hope that we can count on your continuing support for 2024 / 2025.

BArts in The Borough of Broxbourne

Our involvement in the meetings and discussions with Borough representatives and numerous other arts organisations over past months was expected to result in the formal establishment of the Broxbourne Creative Partnership (BCP), intended to raise the profile of the Arts in the borough, increase opportunities for co-operation and collaboration and produce an enhanced borough-wide programme of events and activities for every age group.

Keep well and occupied!
